About MaDDi
Madoka Takei (b. 1999) is a freelance photographer based in London, originally from Japan, with a diverse background in Singapore. Specializing in fine art, portrait, and fashion photography, Madoka's work is characterized by its constructed and conceptual approach as well as art direction. Her passion for photography began in high school when she received her first camera from her grandmother. What started as a hobby of capturing people evolved into a deeper exploration of visual storytelling.
After completing her BA in Tokyo, she took a bold step and moved to the UK to pursue an MA in Photography, despite having studied a completely different field during her undergraduate years. This transition marked a significant turning point in her career, allowing her to experiment with new techniques and ideas. Madoka is particularly intrigued by the intersection of photography and painting, often blending the two mediums to create unique artistic expressions.
Artist Journey
In 2024, Madoka was honoured with the British Photography Awards in the Fine Art category, recognizing her innovative and thought-provoking work. Recently, she has also been working as a photographer at Fashion Week, further expanding her creative repertoire and presence in the fashion industry.
Her work reflects a constant exploration of visual narratives, identity, and the relationship between fine art and photography. Through her lens, she captures not only images but emotions and stories, creating visual compositions that challenge conventional boundaries of photography.
武井まどか（Madoka Takei、1999年生まれ）は、現在ロンドンを拠点に活動するフリーランスの写真家・アーティストです。東京出身のシンガポール生まれ、タイ育ちと多様なバックグラウンドを持っています。ファインアート、ポートレート、ファッションを専門とし、コンセプチュアルなアプローチとアートディレクションを特徴としています。
写真への情熱は高校時代、祖母から初めてカメラを贈られたことをきっかけに芽生えました。人を撮るという趣味から始まり、次第に写真を通してのストーリーテリングへの深い探求へと発展していきました。
まったく異なる分野を専攻していたにもかかわらず東京で学士号を取得後、思い切って渡英し、写真の修士課程に進学しました。この転機がキャリアの大きな転換点となり、新しい技法やアイデアへの挑戦を可能にしました。
Madokaは、絵画からインスピレーションをもらい自身の写真に投影する事を特に関心を持ち、この2つのメディアを融合させることで、独自の芸術的表現を生み出しています。
2024年、絵画を再現したシリーズの一つ「The WineMaid」がBritish Photography Awards のファインアート部門で大賞を受賞しました。それをきっかけに複数の個展に参加し、2025年にロンドンのSaatchi Gallery にてBritish Art Fairにも参加しました。
最近ではロンドンファッションウィークにてもフォトグラファーとして活動しており、ファッション業界でのクリエイティブなレパートリーと存在感をさらに広げています。
